My name is Samuel Steel. I was born in 1765 and passed away in 1850. I emigrated to Huntingdon from County Donegal, Ireland in 1777 with my brother William Steel. I was one of the early settlers in Huntingdon. I was a member of Captain Charles McClay's 8th Company, 1st Battalion Cumberland County Militia. I also served as postmaster of Huntingdon. I also, owned and operated a tavern and store on the lot that is now Rothrock Outfitters on Penn Stree in Huntingdon. At the time of the Original Riverview Cemetery tour, Steel's Pharmacy, owned by H.E. Steel was on that lot. My home was across the street at the corner of Penn and Fifth Streets where the Penn Central BAnk now stands. If you have any information a out Samuel Stell please contact the Isett Heritage Museum.
