Edwin "Ed" Johnson, 80, Independence, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005 at the Carmel Hills Living Center.
Ed was born April 19, 1925, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Austeen G. and Millicent H. (Merchant) Johnson. Mr. Johnson proudly served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He was a volunteer at heart and served the church, Hope House, Outreach International, at The Groves and for SASH. Ed was known for his sense of humor and always having a joke or story to tell.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audrey "Bobbie" (Russell) Johnson of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Alan and Sharon Johnson, Dale Russell and Peggy Johnson, and Paul Curtis and Gail Johnson; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the East 39th Street Community of Christ Church, 15006 E. 39th St., Independence. Cremation with interment in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Outreach International.
