Roberta W. Poole, of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Provena Pine View Care Center in St. Charles, IL. She was born September 20, 1928 in Geneva, the daughter of Roy and Mildred (nee Clever) Weaver. She was united in marriage to William Poole Jr. on March 19, 1949 in Batavia. Roberta was a graduate of Batavia High School and attended Aurora College. She worked for Batavia School District at Alice Gustafson School as a secretary for 30 years.Roberta was actively involved in Girl Scouts, Kane County Farm Bureau, Kane County Genealogical Society, Batavia Historical Society and Teeple Barn. She was also a member of the Congregational Church of Batavia and the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.She is survived by three sons, Alan (Pat) Poole of Kearney Missouri, Roy (Barb) Poole of Elburn, Illinois and John (Suzy) Poole of Appleton, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Danielle, Amy, Timothy, and Heather Poole; and a great granddaughter, Jaiden. She is also survived by a sister, Doris Christensen of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; a brother Don (Corliss) Weaver of Batavia, Illinois; one aunt, Emily Kaus; four nephews; two nieces; a brother-in-law, Donald Poole and a sister-in-law, Carrie (Jim) Cain.In addition to her parents, Roberta is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William, and her sister Eleanor Jones.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Rt. 31) in Batavia, where visitation will continue after the service until 7:00 P.M. Interment will be private in Sugar Grove Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Batavia Historical Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
