Phillip A. "PAW 66" White, 21, of Oswego passed away Sunday, April 27, 2003. He was born September 18, 1981 in Aurora, the son of Roy R. and Linda L. (Schmidt) White.
Phillip was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and as a youth, was a member of the Aurora Country Club Swim Team. winning several medals. He loved to fish and golf and played football for Oswego High School for four years, his senior year, he was all conference lineman. That same year the the football team finished in the top four teams in state in 1999-2000, the only public league team to do so. He had been named to the National Vocational-Technical Honor Society as part of the Valley Education for Employment System (VALEES) program in high school. He also participated in the People to People Student Ambassador Program. A 21-day program visiting Italy, Switzerland, France and staying with a family in Austria. It allows youth from the several countries to meet and exchange ideas, both social and cultural. Phillip had just been accepted and planned on joining the U.S. Coast Guard.
Phillip is survived by his loving parents, Roy and Linda White of Oswego; a sister, Michele (Greg) Stradal of Montgomery; two nephews, Tommy and Justin Stradal of Montgomery; his maternal grandmother, Viola Schmidt of Montgomery; his god parents, Dan Schmidt and JoAnn Beane; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward P. Schmidt; his paternal grandparents, Arthur H. and Lala White; and two uncles, Donald and Gerald White.
Visitation for Phillip will be on Thursday, May 1, 2003 from 2 to 8 PM at the Dieterle Memorial Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 2nd at 2 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, corner of Benton and Jackson Sts., Aurora, Illinois with Pastor Jock Ficken officiating. Interment in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Montgomery. Phillip will lie in state at the church from 1 PM until the hour of service at 2 PM.
