Description

Born in Altglashütten, Bavaria, son of Nikolaus Wigand and his wife Flora nee Halbleib. Immigrated on the ship Carolus Magnus, which sailed from Le Havre, France arriving in New York City on the 9th of August A.D. 1854. He married Elisabeth Wildt nee Engel, a widow, (born 22nd April 1834 in Bavaria) on 3rd October 1872 in Saint Mary's Church in Richmond. They had one son, John Paul, who later joined the Order of Saint Benedict and became Brother Lawrence. Last residence was 904 West Clay Street. He departed this life on 7th April 1900 and was buried 9th April.-From Find A Grave
