Stanley Peter Hill Once in awhile a man comes amongst us and touches us in a special way. Stan did. He had strength and this showed us how to be strong; as this granite rock, as our oak trees, and as our enduring sierras. Stan was strong and we miss that strength. His family and friends.

In 1850 Sam crossed the plains by ox team taking 6 months and 13 days
from Wisconsin to El Dorado. Mary later arrived in 1854. Sam was a member of the state legislature in 1858 and state assemblyman in 1860 He also engaged in mining and cattle raising. Sam's mothers' relatives were among the old colonial families of Maryland. Daughters also buried here are Virginia Hill Jenkins and baby Julia A. Hill Beard
