Description
Martha Mary Devery was born in County Offaly, Irelnad, first married Michael Butler (1833-1868), had children in Australia. They lived on the West Coast for a time where they were storekeepers at Ahaura. Her husband Michael and daughter Martha Mary Butler (1861-1868) both drowned in the Arnold river in 1868. She next married James 'Jimmy' Byrne in 1870. James was a well-known mining expert on the West Coast.
