Helen Lockard Obituary
Lockard, Helen Rose (nee Stirn) 75, of Aurora, passed away on October 3, 2014, at Presence Mercy Medical Center and went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on December 9, 1938 in Aurora, the daughter of Carl and Gertrude (Walther) Stirn. Helen attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and graduated from East Aurora High School in 1956. After graduation she went to work for Northern Illinois Gas Company where she met her future husband who was the love of her life. Helen was united in marriage on November 28, 1959, to Dale Kahle of Yorkville. Helen was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora. Helen was the successful owner/operator, along with her son Greg, of Carl Stirn's Marine in Aurora, the family business started by her father in 1936. She enjoyed her job and loved working with people. Serving as a greeter at St. Paul, Helen always had a smile on her face and never missed an opportunity to help someone in need. She was also an 8+ gallon blood and organ donor. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her two sons, Dale Kahle of North Palm Beach, FL, and Greg Kahle of Aurora; four grandchildren, Grayson Kahle, Sydney Kahle, Ryan Kahle, and Dana Kahle; her sister, Carla (Thomas) Teter; cousins, Gert (Dick) Hills, Marge (Frank) Vermaat, Richard (Claudine) Stirn, Kenneth Stirn; nephews, David (Heather) Teter, John (Heather) Teter, and Todd (Angela) Stirn; extended family, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dale R. Kahle; second husband, Christopher Lockard; her son, Kerry Kahle; and her brother, William Stirn. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 19th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 85 S. Constitution Dr., Aurora, IL. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 85 S. Constitution Dr., Aurora, IL, 60506.
