JOHN FREDERICK *FRED* - John Frederick Williams, son of John and Ellen Williams, was born on the old homestead, three and one-half miles south of Shickley, Neb., August 31, 1874. After an extended illness, he departed this life at the Geneva General hospital January 21, 1947, aged 72 years, 4 months and 20 days.
Fred united with the Methodist church at Summit near the family homestead when he was a boy. In 1902 he moved with his parents to Geneva, where he continued to live. He joined the First Methodist church of Geneva in 1907.
John Frederick was one of seven children, five boys and two girls. Three of them are living. They are George of Oshkosh, Neb., Harry of Huron, S. D., and Mrs. Mary A. Steele of Boise, Idaho. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
After Fred’s parents passed away, he made his home with his sister, Mrs. Arvilla Brundage, until two years ago when she departed from her earthly sojourn.
Fred will be remembered by his friends and neighbors for his many good qualities. For many years he kept a team and did garden work in the city, as well as assisting many families in other ways.
