This tablet is raised in memory of James Dottin Maycock Esq. M.D.F.L.S.
A member of his majesty's council in the Island of Barbados who to a life adorned by natural talent, professional skill, varied acquirement, affectionate feelings, and gentlemanly deportment, added the higher grace of unaffected piety after a lingering illness during which he was weaned in spirit from this world. He departed full of Christian faith and hope and love. Leaning on the Lord Jesus, the "Rock of Ages", died on the 18th June 1835, aged 48.
His afflicted widow, in humble resignation to the will of God, causes this memorial to be here placed, that her children, in the pious contemplation of their earthly loss, May be led by God, to aspire after a Heavenly reunion with their departed parent. "Thou shalt follow me afterwards". St. John
