MAPLE PARK – Margaret B. Duy, 91, of Maple Park, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at her home.

She was born Nov. 30, 1917, in Sycamore, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Ilsemann) Loptien. She married Edward F. Duy in Sycamore. They were the first couple to be married at the Evangelical Church of St. John.

Margaret was a graduate of Sycamore High School, class of 1935. Before she married Edward, she worked at Ideal Industries and then she helped her husband on their family farm throughout her married life. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John in Sycamore.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 70 years, Edward; two sons, Ron (Kay) Duy of Elgin and James Duy of DeKalb; two grandchildren, Kameron (Jeff) Fischer of Elgin and Karsten (Troy) Sperbeck of Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Colin and Kyle Fischer and Olivia and Hayden Sperbeck; two sisters, Mildred Brown of Monroe Center and Eleanor Nehring of DeKalb; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ernest; and one sister, Blanche Glapin.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, until the funeral at noon at Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John, 26555 Brickville Road, Sycamore, with the Rev. Robert Weinhold officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John in care of Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.

MAPLE PARK – Edward F. Duy, 101, of Maple Park, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, DeKalb.

Born Nov. 29, 1910, in Aurora, the son of Henry and Caroline Duy, he married Margaret Loptien on June 18, 1938.

Edward was a farmer in Maple Park his entire life. He had a dairy farm until 1970 and he also raised corn and beans. He enjoyed wood-working: rebuilding, repairing and refinishing furniture for family and friends.

Ed was a faithful member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John in Sycamore. Family and church were very important to Ed.

He is survived by two sons, Ron (Kay) Duy of Elgin and James Duy of DeKalb; two grandchildren, Kameron (Jeff) Fischer of Elgin and Karsten (Troy) Sperbeck of Minnesota; four great-grandchildren, Colin and Kyle Fischer and Olivia and Hayden Sperbeck; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Nehring of Sycamore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret in 2009; and three brothers, Henry, William and Paul.

Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John, 26555 Brickville Road, Sycamore. The funeral service will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, at the church, with the Rev. Robert Weinhold officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service at the church. A graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
