Helen Stevenson Battenschlag, 101 of Rockwall, TX formerly of Aurora, passed away Sunday April 12, 2015. She was born February 3, 1914 in Yorkville, IL, daughter of the late Oliver and Margaret (Sabie) Stevenson. Mrs. Battenschlag was a graduate of Brokaw Hospital of Nursing in Bloomington, IL. She was employed as a nursing supervisor at Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora for 37 years, retiring in 1977. She left Aurora in 1990 and moved to Rockwall, TX to live with her daughter. A longtime of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aurora, she joined First United Methodist Church of Heath, TX. She was loved and admired by all her family and friends always taking care of others first. Her faith never wavered and she met each day with deep gratitude for what the Lord has given her. She was a precious gift to all who knew and loved her and will be sorely missed. Mrs. Battenschlag is survived by her daughter, Judy Holder of Rockwall, TX; grandsons, Matthew Holder of Dallas, TX and Andrew Holder of San Francisco, CA; great-granddaughter, Alexis Holder of Dallas, TX along with several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1978; her son-in-law Todd Holder; nine brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. April 17, 2015 at St. Paul Cemetery, Montgomery, IL. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 140 Smirl Dr., Heath, TX 75032.
