Near this marble lyes deposited the body of Griffith Rice of Newton,

in the County of Carmarthen Esquire

He married Katherine,

One of the Daughters and Coheirs,

of Phillip Hobby of Neath Abbey,

in the County of Clamorgan Esquire

By whom he had issue,

Edward, Phillip, Elizabeth, Catherine, Maria & Albinia.

He married for his second wife,

Elizabeth, Eldest daughter of John Morgan of Bayly Viccar in the County of Carmarthen, Esquire

Who surviving him,

Erected the monument to his memory.

Edward, his eldest son and heir, married Lucy, daughter of John Morley Trevor of Glyne, in the County of Cuffex Esquire

by whom he left George, the only surviving Heir, of this most Ancient Family of Brittish Race: That had flourished in the said county of Carmarthen, for many ages.
