Born in Virginia. A soldier of the War of 1812. Came from Tennessee to this county 1829 A pioneer who faced perils A thinker who blazed the trails to higher living A herald-minister of a glorious gospel. First buried by this stone he had helped to prepare with his own hands Later his body was brought to this lot and now on the 100th anniversary of his coming to this community this historic stone is again erected to his memory
