Near This Place Are Deposited The Remains Of Rev. Daniel Watson M.A. Who Died His Merits Alone Recommended Him To The Favor And Patronage Of Dr.Joseph Butler Bishop Of Durham Who Prefented Him To The viearage Of Leek In The County Of York Which He Vacated In 1766 Upon His Appointment By The Crown To That Of Middleton Tyas In The Farne County Refufing To Hold Both The Benefices From Noble And Conscientious Scruples For More Than Half A. Century He Performed The Duties Of The Minifterial Function With A. Truly Christian Zeal His Difcourles From The Pulpit Were Plain Peufpicuous And Energetic To The Accomplisments Of A. Scholar He Added Qualities Lar More Eftimable Sanctity Of Life Purity Of Manners Unaffected Humility And Most Diffusive Beneficence This Monument Was Erected To The Memory Of Their Father By His Affectionate Children Edward Ward Of Morpeth Northumberland
