**SAMUEL...Samuel was a son of John Fitz Randolph, born 1750, and his wife Charlotte Fitz Randolph, who lived and died in New Jersey. The Fitz Randolph family have been prominent in the history of New Jersey for three centuries. They descend from Edward Fitz Randolph, born in England, married at Barnstable, Massachusetts, May 10, 1637, Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Blossom, of England an early Puritan settler. He settled at Piscataway, New Jersey, where both are buried. Samuel Fitz Randolph was reared in New Jersey, where he learned the shoemaker's trade, coming to Fayette county in 1839, settling in Liberty, where he died November 7, 1867. He married Nancy Jarrad, who died February 24, 1885. They were both members of the Methodist Episcopal church; He a Democrat.
