The Towle Family Cemetery (Meredith tax map coordinates S13-29) is located on the east side of Old Centre Harbor Road on the edge of the Lot now owned by the New Hampshire Electric Co. This cemetery is 42' x 72' in size and is in very poor condition. The cemetery is enclosed by granite, fieldstone walls and has a gateless entranceway flanked by 2 large, stone gateposts. There are 3 small gravestones lying broken on the cemetery's grounds. There are 3 known, marked burials and at least 5 unmarked graves within this cemetery. Apparently, when installing a new telephone pole, the electric company "accidently" dug a pit inside this cemetery for a telephone pole anchor, then realizing their "mistake", partially filled in the hole leaving a bomb crater like hole behind near the inside entranceway to this cemetery. Apparently, the heavy equipment used to dig this hole also knocked one of this cemetery's massive stone gateposts askew, which the electric company never righted before they left. (This information was obtained from the Town of Meredith.) As of 9-24-2017, the 3 small gravestones lying broken on the cemetery's ground cannot be found.
