Small Catholic Cemetery next to a Catholic Church dedicated July 1869, per Forrest Shivers, History of Hancock Co. It is in a field on the corner of Hancock and Court Street. It appears the cemetery has recently been cleared and white cross markers indicate the location of the graves. (2009) The ruined foundation of the church can be seen as well. History The Catholic cemetery and chapel were located on a plot conveyed to the diocese of Savannah by Benjamin Tarpley Harris 11 August 1869 "on the south side of the village of Sparta and on the east side of the road leading from said village to Milledgeville by way of Fairplay." The cemetery was on the southern side of the chapel.
